MWS learning group for white folks (first of 5-week series)

This group will meet for five Fridays in May (May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31), from 12-1:30pm via Zoom. You can reserve your spot here (limited to 12 people). Without shaming, our learning groups help white-bodied and white-presenting people become more aware of the ways in which we have internalized white supremacy, to help us become more aware of how we impact Black, Indigenous, and other folks of color. In doing this internal work, we not only cause less harm in the world, but we also become more mature, authentic versions of ourselves as we move towards a culture of connection. For this learning group, participants process individually, and as a group, the interactive book “Me and White Supremacy.” This book was written by Layla F. Saad, a Black woman, to provide white-bodied and white-presenting people a reflective guide on how internalized white supremacy (settler/occupier white culture) affects their thoughts and behaviors, and therefore impacts folks of color. Here is one of Layla’s video introductions to the book content (you will hear her reference it as an Instagram challenge, which it was at that time– and now it’s a book). Besides focusing on Layla Saad’s “Me and White Supremacy” interactive book, we also bring additional resources, tools, and somatic support to help work through shame and grief, as well as some added understanding on what makes white supremacy unique, and the ways it shows up in everyday contexts (including in activist spaces). This is challenging, rich, life-changing work Price options (10% goes to reparations fund):
